1st International Symposium on Metalloantibiotics
Registration and abstract submission open soon.
View programmeAbout
ISMA is the first meeting dedicated to this community: one day to take stock of the field, connect chemists with microbiologists and drug developers, and agree what it will take to bring a metalloantibiotic to the clinic.
Metal complexes have emerged as a promising source of new antibiotics. In large screening campaigns they show higher hit rates against critical pathogens than purely organic compounds, and they can act through mechanisms that are hard to achieve otherwise. Yet the people working on them are spread across meetings in bioinorganic and medicinal chemistry, microbiology and antimicrobial resistance.
- Invited lecturesFive lectures from research leaders across chemistry and microbiology.
- Two round tablesOpen discussions on the field's scientific priorities and the road to clinical trials.
- Early-career talks & postersThree talks selected from submitted abstracts, and a poster session over lunch.
- A shared roadmapOutcomes from the day will feed into a community Perspective on the future of the field.
